"do you know what exactly do you want?" - a common question i'd pose to people ard me.
be it for new job or life partner, i believe one should always pause, seriously think through and decide what he/she wants in life. it's very easy to fall into the trap of complaining. we complain all the time. frankly, there's every thing to complain in everything (afterall nothing is perfect) but .. what is it that we truly desire? to truly understand what we truly yearn for in life, i believe we have to stop our pace in this rat race, lest we really become one of the rats. take a pause, be still and really+surely know what you want, and when you have decided, you can specifically put them into our Father's Hands. trust me, there's power in praying with focus! once you 'locked' your target, stay focused and trust in God, our loving Father will never shortchange you! trust me, when God answers prayers (which He eagerly desires to do so!), His answer comes in ABUNDANCE! nothing you can do to make Him 'discount' His blessings for you!
with focus, we can see our vision clearly hence keeping us in track of our purpose.
few mths ago, i fell into the trap of complaining about my job, even tempted to resign.. but i thank God that my vision is clear, so i could stay focused and resisted the temptation for 'greener fields'.. i have everything i prayed for in my environment here - great caring boss(though she's lady boss), great team and great corporate culture.. though job is not as fantastic as before, but nothing brings greater joy than to walk in your calling.. Unless God gives me a new calling, God moves, I move. :)
one of my friends had been changing jobs for past 2yrs.. now that she's resigning again, it's very 'normal' that i pose this question to her as a HR practitioner, as a friend. how can God bless you with what you want, unless you know what you want? do you know He can bless you with millions of good jobs, but yet none can bring you joy until you know what your happiness is?
similiarly for relationship.. i know of some guys like to date a few ladies at same time to explore future opportunities. i can really beat the person up if he tells me he's trying out relationship with another person! if you want to 'try out' a relationship, please go and start relationship with hamsters or even rats! they are experimental specimens, humans are not! i firmly believe one has to be focused in his/her life partner requirements. otherwise, anyone of opposite gender will fit the bill! be wise - know what you want so you wont be caught in a dilemma of fulfilling 'relational obligations' when you should be enjoying the relationship! then again, if ur expectations are not SMARTER, and you still insist, perhaps your true happiness is really on the wait itself.. at least you are happy waiting for your perfection.
personal experience tells me there's power in prayers when one chooses to be still, and in everything by earnest prayer+thanksgiving+meditation, let the requests be made known to God. know what you want and trust God to lead! can you imagine - if a farmer is to scatter all sorts of seeds in all sorts of ground, what kind of harvest will he gather and what will be the quality of harvest? it's not that i'm of 'high expectations' but i know and i know God has that someone for me which only he can fulfills my expectations. time and again, my eyes are opened to a more defined vision whenever i feel it's not possible. not that i'm playing hard-to-get, but why hinder others from their true happiness when i know they dont belong to me?
Phil4:6-8
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.Meditate on These Things. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
