28 Jan 09 - Faith in Peace

Can I say it hurts me again when I read the news this morning, on this early morning of 3rd day of CNY?

I cant help wondering what is israeli government thinking.. Cant they hear the plead from the hearts of Gaza people? Cant they feel the pain of losing member(s) of their loved ones?? Even I, being a on-looking so far away in another part of the globe, feels the pain for the civilians in Gaza, for Dr Izzeldeen Abuelaish's family and many others.. They are human beings, mere people who happen to be living in the restrictive Gaza, trying to make life's ends meet.. I can imagine the shock and the devastation when they rushed into the room only to see the blown off heads of their little ones with bodies still sitting on the chairs.. Does doing homework in the room interfere the conflict between Hamas and Israel? Like I said before, no where and no one can be safe in the war. Even in the house of a prominent doctor who is deemed to be 'protected' by international relations, no one and no where is safe..

Yet I do have to admire Dr Izzeldeen's firm belief in peace, despite the terrible ordeal he is going through now. I don't know if I'd still have the faith and strength to go through the sudden tragic loss of my loved ones yet still believe in peace.. The very party who has the power to bring peace yet causes the pain and loss.. The Word of God says 'love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back' (Luke 6:35).. I pray for wisdom for the leaders in Israel and Hamas, pray for peace in Gaza and comfort for people in Gaza who have no where to hide from those gun fire..

Luke 6: 35-36
But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
